Mai Linh

Mai Linh

Webpage: http://www.mailinhmusic.com
Location: Arlington, MA, United States
Description: In today's world of processed pop and radio music, the song styling of Boston area jazz chanteuse Mai Linh is a throwback to the famous torch singers of an era gone by.
Biography: Mai began her life long connection with music at the age of 7 when she began studying classical piano. A few years later, she joined a performing children’s choir. It was there that Mai discovered her love of singing. After spending several years with the children’s choir, Mai continued her piano training and studied opera in high school and college. After taking a break to raise her two children, Mai found her way back to music; and with a fresh attitude, chose to switch genres and explore jazz. “Classical has a form and structure that I’d come to know like the back of my hand. When I switched to singing jazz, I had to rethink and retrain myself to sing and approach music in an entirely different way – it’s like learning a new dialect.” Mai is currently working on putting together her first studio recording which is set to be released by spring 2009 and is looking forward to performing live and sharing her love of music.

Serel

Serel

Webpage: http://www.thisisserel.com
Location: Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.
Description: A late night trance through a city of clouded distortion, low whispers of conscious thoughts pounding away at the cluster of up-tempo melodies of lust driven metaphors, a destruction of self-restraint capsizing the allure of mainstream.
Biography:
Shai Poent- Lyricist

Vanessa Stone- Vocalist

“The Basement Chronicles”

Centered on head bopping beats, Serel’s new album “The Basement Chronicles” delivers an artful ambition and lyrics that you’ll be singing long after you hear the album. Listening to “The Basement Chronicles” is similar to solving a jigsaw puzzle. Ideas, metaphors, and emotions were all scattered throughout the album. Nonetheless, it is for this reason that Serel’s album is captivating.

Serel maintains a balance that essentially creates a smooth flow throughout the exchanges of the songstress and lyricist. With his raw, ragged, and raspy voice, Shai PoeNt offsets Vanessa’s glossy and bright tone. The duo creates a gorgeous cameo from their “Destructive Love” to “Life on the Run” by producing a story-telling format. “The Basement Chronicles” truly delivers.

"The Group"

Lyricist, songstress and songwriters Serel are a duo who has been shaking the music world with their defiance of any easy pigeonhole. By turns, the duo collaborates on a blend of artistic exploration of social themes relevant to the youth. Spitting and singing witty songs about modern life, the duo reaches deep for a soulful expression of values in a troubled world; topping it all with beats nice as all skillfully blended into a seamless flow, as one fan said It¹s easy to listen to and original. .

Dre Allen

Dre Allen

Webpage: http://www.myspace.com/dreallen
Location: Los Angeles, California, USA
Description: Dre Allen is an innovative combination of Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Coldplay, & Robin Thicke with a dash of Usher for good measure!
Biography: Dre Allen is simply a man who has overcome what some would call an impossible set of odds. Born to a prostitute & a pimp, homeless at the age of 11, subject to physical abuse, everything the street life had to offer, & a judicial system MORE than willing to find a place for him in their lockup facilities, Dre has risen above the hate that could have festered & found a desire to deliver love to the world through his music. He has been through a turbulent music career and an even more devastating childhood but with impermeable persistence and passion, Dre Allen created a body of soulful and inspirational music. It didn't hurt that after the turbulence died down, he married the girl of his dreams, lead singer of the multi platinum girl group En Vogue Dawn Robinson! After his marriage to Dawn was coasting, he buckled down to complete his opus and entrance into the indie music scene with his debut album. With "The Dre Allen Project", his freshman effort, he developed his style. The Dre Allen Project put soul into rock & hip hop with strong vocals and unique musical arrangement. On his sophomore effort "Ghetto Rockstar" Dre found his swagger & dove into his r&b roots more to evenly express his love for all of the genre's that sculpted his sound. Do not get it misconstrued. This is not JUST an R&B artist. He is as Rock, Pop, & Hip Hop as they come musically, but it's when the lights go down and the smooth tone of his voice, which can be characterized as a mixture between John Legend, Lenny Kravitz, & Robin Thicke...that he soars into the hearts of fans. And especially on songs like "The Ledge" & "Why Can't I Fly". This blockbuster song is also the only duet on the album which features 15 time MTV VMA recipient Dawn Robinson from En Vogue & Lucy Pearl. "The song is about escapism & just enjoying life outside of your daily constraints," explains Dre. This song is the perfect illustration of the musical talents of Dre Allen. His latest album "The Narcissist", mixes different musical elements like organic unmixed sounds, urban expression, heavy drums, and monster guitar. Who is Dre? He is a man with a mission. After 10 failed record deals, a stint in incarceration, and a brief career with R&B group, IV Xample, Dre is finally ready to spread his musical wings. " He should be opening for Lenny Kravitz, Dave Matthews, or Robin Thicke, because his music is likened to that," explains his manager. In December 2005, Music Connection Magazine named Dre Allen as "One of Southern California’s Top Unsigned Artist." Today, being unsigned is of no worry for Allen. Movemakers Entertainment is his brainchild & he has recently moved from the urban music mecca Atlanta back to Los Angeles. But while in Atlanta, his exploits sprouted a collaborative venture with The Dungeon Family & Rico Wade (the creative force behind TLC's Waterfalls, EnVogue's Don't Let Go, Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Gnarles Barkley, Ludacris, & many more). That collaboration has earned him a co writer credit with the song "Ringtone" on the forthcoming solo album by Big Boi of the Grammy Award winning duo "Outkast"! Now from his home base in Los Angeles, Allen plans to take his indie label to the next level with his new associations. In his ambitious testimony, Allen has managed to make some progressive and creative music for the masses. Get ready.

Lea

Webpage: http://www.inLeasWorld.com
Location: Torrance, CA, USA
Description: Casually elegant, her smooth voice will melt you to your knees. When it's time to relax, it's time to slip in the Lea CD.
Biography: Lea-The name is casual, simple, yet elegant, and classy like the girl it represents.

Her music and lyrics are a reflection of her soul and the feelings she wants to convey. Always serene, Lea found that expressing herself musically has become an important part of her life. It is her passion, and began at the young age of 6 when she began studying classical piano. Through her life, she has been exposed to the Brazilian culture her mother grew up in, and the Portuguese musician her father influenced in her. Living in Los Angeles influenced her Hip Hop nature which is apparent in her music.

Lea’s love of music became evident, as she loved to sing, and make up songs at the early age of 4. Her turning point came at the age of 14 when she asked her mother to buy her a keyboard. The purchase would be made under the condition that Lea would put a band together. Excitedly, she went out, and joined a local top 40 band called “Reaction”. They played in several showcases, andevents, including Washington High school ’s annual “Star Search”, where most of the band members attended. Performing in the showcase were students at the time, Yolanda Wittaker, now known as “Yo Yo”, and Michael Angelo Saulsberry (From Portrait), Ice Cube, Jinx and Johnny J. These series of events embedded her love of music that she will never be able to shake. In 1988, Lea’s seriousness in music propelled her to pursue music as a producer. She began purchasing studio equipment.

She formed a company and signed a Publishing deal with EMI publishing in 1991. She produced and co-produced several compositions including songs for Adina Howard, Yo Yo and TuPac just to name a few. Once the term was complete, Lea began developing her own music for release and has since produced several soundtracks and sports promos for major television networks.

Her musical style is a combination of her Brazilian roots, which incorporates African rhythms and folk music, Classical instruction, and her hometown upbringing of R&B and Hip Hop. She mixes these sounds to create original music to set new trends in music. Although she loves to create new sounds, she admires the sounds of Joe, Loose Ends, and Patrice Rushen among others.

She hopes to one day establish a conglomerate of Clothing Gear, Comics, Food, Music, and nightclubs. She has the drive and passion to get her to the top..which is not far from her reach. Her goal is to take each day positively, with the intention to one day set a goal for all young girls: that they can do it too.

Description:
Biography: Debut Release

A Side: You’re That Kind Of Girl
B Side: Rain

Digital Release: 11.11.08
Releasing on: Song Rebel Records
www.myspace.com/beckwithsongs

Singer Songwriter Beckwith releases his debut single, ‘You’re That Kind Of Girl’ with a nod to the glory days of 90’s R&B.

Growing up an a healthy dose of new jack swing and R&B acts including New Edition, Silk, Intro, Shai, Tevin Campbell, Anthony David and Portrait, Beckwith, aka Jon Paul Walton made a promise as a 15 year old that he would be writing an R&B album. “From watching New Edition as a really young child, I wanted to be exactly like Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown” says Beckwith.

To date he has been working on a new album and his dream is being realised. Writing the album himself with musical partner Marvin ‘Marvelous’ Ambrosius, who wrote for the last NAS and Game album, expect the album to be completely catchy and hook laden.

The new single ‘You’re That Kind Of Girl’ was co-written with French producer Claps [Leona Lewis ‘Here I Am’ & Anthony Hamilton ‘She’s Gone’] and unlike so much R&B out today, is a clean and catchy, dreamy R&B track and a reflection of his 90’s R&B influences.

B Side ‘Rain’, reveals Beckwith’s own take on an evolved 90’s R&B style. The sexy smooth love song is already an underground cult hit and has been waiting for an official release.

Beckwith has already worked with Burbree (Fundamental), Laurence Woo Allen (Mr Cheeks), Matt McCarrin (Patti Labelle) and Serengeti Productions (Mitchell Brothers) and his debut album will be out next year. He will also be performing live see website for more details.

So with his new single ready to go and an album in the pipeline, what’s his plan of action? “My pops says that bands in the 60’s used to say ‘Give it to em’ before they went on the stage. I use that as a motto”. Beckwith.

The single package will be available for download from all major digital outlets.
